What are binaural beats?

The discovery of binaural beats:

Physicist Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered binaural beats in 1839. Binaural beats are two different frequencies of sound that each ear observes separately.

When you listened to them with headphones, your brain creates its own beat to reconcile the difference between the two frequencies.

This beat equals the difference between the two frequencies.

Scientists and researchers have discovered that these particular beats have a hypnotic effect on all whoever listens to them.

When you listen to a 10 Hz frequency in your left ear, while listening to a 15 Hz frequency in your right ear, your brain creates its own frequency in 5 Hz to make up the difference.

This results in a beat that’s all in your head.

While the brain resonates with that beat, follows it, then starts working in synchronicity with it. They called this the Frequency Following Response.

Biophysicist Gerald Oster researched this phenomenon in 1973.

He then proved that auditory stimulation can affect and improve the way the mind works.

Effect on the Mind

As research mounted proving the benefits of binaural beats, multiple doctors started recommending it to achieve altered and deeper states of relaxation and cognitive thinking.

Listening to certain binaural beats will stimulate specific parts of the mind.

In fact, it’s scientifically proven that binaural beats work and influence the brain.

Scientists have observed it through electroencephalogram measurements (EEG).

EEGs have shown that binaural beats alter our cognitive thought process, resulting in differentiation from our typical EEG activity without the binaural beat.

When you listen to binaural beats for mind-altering effects, you’ll likely hear that they are mixed with music or background sounds.

This is because they can achieve a wide range of different states when paired with other noises. So they are very useful for meditation, stress reduction, relaxation, pain management, improving sleep quality, increasing learning abilities, enhancing creativity and intuition, and many more.

With the Law of Attraction, many followers will listen to binaural beats paired with positive affirmations in order to increase the absorption and influence of the words stated.

Why Use Binaural Beats

Most of us aren’t gifted with yoga-master levels of concentration and focus. It is quite difficult to just dive into a meditative lifestyle without training. In order to fully receive the benefits of meditation, you have to be committed to focusing all of your senses and calming your nerves.

For the average person, jump-starting a meditation routine is not a simple task. With practice, you will reach your meditation goals, but some of us don’t want to put in all of that time practicing when we really just want to wind down from a stressful day.

Luckily, binaural beats are an effortless way to meditate and only require a set of headphones.

  • Meditation aims to detach us from our stressful day-to-day stressful challenges while reviving and replenishing our mind, soul, and body in a peaceful way. Meditation is a great way to help us discover ourselves and level our heads. Traditionally, meditation requires discipline. Some days, especially at the beginning of a meditative journey, discipline and focus escape us. The result is feeling discouraged and sometimes even giving up on trying to meditate altogether.
  • Binaural beats activate both sides of your brain and convert you into a calm and focused person. These sound waves stimulate the areas of your brain that are responsible for positive moods and thoughts. When you’ve had a rough day or just need some fresh ideas, take part in some binaural beat therapy to soothe your mind and create a nourishing environment for ideas to grow.

The best part of binaural beat therapy is that you don’t even have to think about it. You just relax, listen, and let them do the work for you.

There’s a reason we love listening to music.

Music’s made up of sound waves that are arranged in different ways that inspire different areas of our brain to make us feel different emotions.

Binaural beats introduce separate sound waves into each ear so that each hemisphere of the human brain works together to create a harmonizing sound wave that meets in the middle.

So, instead of being a left-brain or right-brain person, you become a whole-brain thinker that is capable of more than you imagined.
